To map a new network drive, open your File Explorer.
Note the folder path for the shortcut you want to set up. This can be any folder that you go to often, but may be buried within many other folders
You can copy the path from here. Note that the beginning is using a drive letter instead of the full address.
You need to update the N: with whatever address is mapped to N on your PC to add the new connection
The part within the parentheses goes first, and the name on the left is the folder that drive goes to, and is the next part of the path after the parentheses section
So to replace N, you need to enter \\sbhm-file\sbhm\common
and then add on the rest of the path to your preferred folder
So the full path for this folder would be
\\sbhm-file\sbhm\common\Bulletins & Policy Clarif\Tracking Sheets. Bulletins
To add a new network drive connection
On the left side of File Explorer, right click This PC, and select Map Network Drive
You can select a drive letter if you want, but an open one will have been randomly assigned already. It makes no difference which you select.
Paste in or type out the full file path for the folder you want to have mapped, and click Finish
This will leave you with the mapped drive in your file explorer to access quickly and easily
You can also right click the drive at this point and rename it to something easier/shorter if you'd like.
You may need to close and reopen File Explorer to see this change.
And lastly, if you want, you can Copy from the right click menu, and Paste Shortcut on your Desktop to have a quick link there. (Do not use regular paste as this will copy the whole folder to your desktop)
